Choosing The Right Session

Not Sure What to Book? Let’s Break It Down.

Do You Need an Initial Assessment in Akron, Ohio? (Short Answer: Not Always)

Most clients at Truly Heal Wellness do not need an Initial Assessment to get started. If you already know what you want — massage, stretch therapy, sports recovery, or a combo session — you can book it directly.

The Initial Assessment is simply an optional clinical evaluation for people who:

  • Aren’t sure what to book

  • Have chronic or recurring pain

  • Are recovering from injury

  • Want clarity before committing to a care plan

  • Need help understanding what their body actually needs

It’s a focused, 20‑minute session designed to give you direction — not treatment.

Combo Appointments vs. Care Plans

Choosing the Right Option for Your Body:

At Truly Heal Wellness, every session is built around clinical findings — but not every client needs a structured care plan. Here’s how to choose the right fit.

Combo Appointments (Single Sessions)

Best for: focused relief, mobility work, sports recovery, or periodic tune‑ups.

Combo sessions blend manual therapy with:

  • Stretch therapy (PNF, AIS, FST)

  • Corrective exercise

These sessions are ideal when you want targeted work on a specific issue, need to improve mobility, or want to experience a particular modality without committing to a long‑term plan.

Care Plans (Structured Programs)

Best for: chronic pain, postural dysfunction, movement‑pattern issues, or long‑term recovery.

Care plans typically run 6–8 weeks of 6 or 8 sessions and include:

  • A personalized schedule based on clinical assessment findings

  • Manual therapy, stretch therapy, and corrective exercise

  • Homework routines to support progress between visits

  • Ongoing reassessment to track improvement and adjust treatment

Care plans cannot be scheduled without an evaluation because they’re built from objective clinical data, not guesswork.

Why You Can’t Schedule a Care Plan Without Seeing Me First

Care plans are customized to your movement patterns, posture, and clinical findings.
Before building one, I need to:

  • Perform orthopedic testing

  • Assess your posture and movement

  • Identify restrictions, imbalances, and compensation patterns

  • Understand your goals and history

This happens during your first treatment or a free 20‑minute evaluation.
You’ll receive honest recommendations, and we’ll decide together if a care plan is appropriate.

Many clients start with a standard 60‑minute massage and discover they need a care plan.
It’s never required — but it’s often the key to lasting results.

Long-Term Relief Starts with a Personalized Care Plan

One session can help — but lasting change requires strategy.
Care plans at Truly Heal Wellness are designed to restore function, reduce pain, and prevent future issues through a clinical, hands‑on approach that blends:

  • Orthopedic and therapeutic manual therapy

  • Stretch therapy (PNF, AIS, FST)

  • Corrective exercise tailored to your movement patterns

  • Homework routines to support progress outside the office

What to Expect:

  • Plans run 6–8 weeks

  • Each plan is built after your first treatment

  • You’ll receive a clear schedule, goals, and support

  • You’ll be expected to engage — real healing takes teamwork

Pain Is Complex—Your Treatment Shouldn’t Be

You do not need a referral or imaging to book — but sometimes they help.

At Truly Heal Wellness, we don’t just treat pain — we help you understand it, move through it, and heal from it.

In Ohio, licensed massage therapists do not require a doctor’s referral, X‑ray, or MRI for you to receive treatment. You can book any session — massage, stretch therapy, sports recovery, or a combo appointment — without seeing a physician first.

However, when pain comes from a recent injury, accident, or surgery, medical imaging or a doctor’s evaluation can be helpful because it gives us more information about what’s safe to work on and what should be avoided. It’s not required — it simply helps us make smarter decisions together.

Acute pain often stems from:

  • Accidents

  • Falls

  • Surgeries

  • Sudden trauma

  • Recent injuries

You can still book with me if you’re in this stage.
Imaging or a doctor’s evaluation is optional, but it can provide clarity about what tissues are involved and how to approach treatment safely.

Chronic pain can linger for months or years and often relates to:

  • Postural dysfunction

  • Repetitive strain

  • Movement limitations

  • Autoimmune conditions

  • Work‑related overuse

  • Stress‑load distribution

These cases benefit from a clinical, movement‑based approach — and this is where care plans, corrective exercise, and structured stretch therapy shine.

Collaboration When Needed

For medically complex cases — such as auto injuries, post‑surgical recovery, or conditions involving nerve or structural involvement — I may collaborate with physicians, chiropractors, or other providers to ensure your treatment is safe and effective.

This is not a requirement for booking.
It’s simply part of practicing responsibly as a clinical bodywork provider.

Common Conditions We Work With:

  • Repetitive use injuries

  • Migraines and tension headaches

  • Auto accident recovery

  • Nerve entrapment syndromes

  • Post‑surgical pain

  • Sciatica / piriformis syndrome

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

  • Carpal / metatarsal tunnel

  • Tendonitis

  • TMJ dysfunction

  • Plantar fasciitis

Note: I am not a doctor and do not diagnose or treat serious illness or disease. If you have a medical condition, please consult your physician. A referral is required for treatment of medically complex cases, and taxes will be waived accordingly. I accept HSA/FSA for massage sessions.

Your Plan, Your Progress

Self-care isn’t optional—it’s essential. Whether we’re working together through a care plan or a single session, I’ll provide clear direction and ongoing support to help you meet your goals.

With massage therapy, corrective exercise, and structured stretch, we’ll restore mobility, improve posture, increase flexibility, and build strength from the inside out.
